Simply stated, Scorpion Pirates want its members want to have fun and enjoy the time they spend playing world of warcraft.
We believe a Guild will function best when everyone shares the same ideals and standards. Therefore, we have a our Guild Rules that will ensure that you will not only fit with our gaming style, but also get the most out of your gaming experience with like-minded people.
Personally I've come to known our current members we have in the guild are as Helpful and Friendly as anyone can be. Some of our members have extended knowledge on Quests and Instances and share their insights when they can. Just remember all u have to do is ask.
1.0 G O A L S:
Being a member of Scorpion Pirates involves responsibility and a mature soul. Although most of the information here may strike you as common knowledge, we have decided to put it into words, to help prevent any misunderstandings in game, and to ensure a smooth and fun game play for everyone.
1.1 Growing together:
Games like WoW live through the sense of achievement they give their players. We are a group of adventurers that grow and progress together through the upper parts of the game. Thus our targets will grow more challenging as we progress trough the World of Warcraft.
1.2 Casual and Raiding:
We are casual in the sense that we see World of Warcraft as a game and a hobby. Real Life comes first and is always more important, no matter what.
We are a Raiding guild in the sense that we commit ourselves to raids when we are online on a scheduled raid day and would expect you to turn up to atleast two raids per week.
2.0 B E H A V I O R:
As a guild we will not tolerate any behaviour that could give the guild a bad name. wither your in a pug group or just in a major city remember you wear our guild tag
2.1 Communication:
As we are an international Guild English is our main Language. Though speaking English perfectly is not a requirement, members are expected to understand it well enough to communicate with each other without difficulties.
We love constructive discussion. Proposals on improvement, constructive criticism, precision in pinpointing problems or mistakes, ideally combined with solution ideas - all these are more than welcome. Conflicts shall be solved in a mature way, showing respect to the opponent even if it seems hard.
We very much frown upon people using guild chat, channels or the forums to vent their frustrations and anger towards the game or others. Bragging, extensive linking of your real or your dream items (especially during guild raids), talk of your own uberness, whining, ranting, etc is not welcome.
2.2 Reputation:
One's reputation relies on two points: Our achievements and our behaviour. Each member's communication is an important factor in the reputation we build on the server, and a few misguided communication faults can ruin a good name.
Keep this in mind before you say or write something in the heat of the moment.
2.3 Actions that we encourage:
- Greeting fellow Guild-mates.
- Participating in Guild-chat. The more you talk to us, the more we get to know you!
- Enforcing a fair looting system according to the wishes of the party you are in
- Respecting queues on quest monsters
2.4 Actions that we discourage:
- Talking down on other players.
- Spamming Guild-chat
- Not sharing loot with your party, aka ninja-looting
- Stealing monsters from others, or ninja-pulling
- Bad-mouthing other players behind their backs
3.0 W E B S I T E:
To secure our Goals we ask you to commit yourself to some level of activity, in-game as well as on our website.
You must register on the website with your in game main's name as your username. This is to ensure that you receive the rights you are entitled to on the website.
Log on at least once a week on the website and with your Main Char In-Game! Failure to do so will result in a demotion and ultimately removal from the Guild, unless an AWOL-post is made on the website. We do not accept Alt-Chars that do not have their Main in the Guild.
We feel this is required to serve two main purposes:
- You keep updated on Raids.
- Participation on the Forums helps us to function as a group.
3.1 Guild and Public Forum:
The guild forum with its various sections is the basis for our coordination, for discussions, for mutual learning and to solve inner conflicts. members are expected to actively take part in the forum. On public forums and especially on other guilds forums always stay polite, if not friendly.
4.0 R A I D I N G:
4.1 Signing up for raids:
Raids will be posted in the Raids section, and people are expected to sign up for raids here, to be allowed a spot. Signing up will also reserve you a spot in the raid, unless we have a large amount of a specific class singing up.
Please let us know in fair time, if you cannot attend a raid that you have signed up for. This enables us to find a replacement for you. Failure to notify us on not being able to attend these raids is looked down on.
- We will try to schedule raid days a week ahead, so that our members can prepare themselves in time.
- With respect to our fellow Guild Members and efforts of the people organizing, we ask our members to give priority to the announced Raids.
- Members that wish to join the raids, must sign up on the website.
We are not casual in the sense of a low-focus guild. When we call a raid on a raid day, we expect high attendance.
4.2 Leaving early/joining late:
When someone is at a raid, we feel the only allowed ways to leave the raid are logging off for Real Life or explicit Raid Leaders permission (e.g. in case of overkill, other raid targets coming up or extreme lag). If possible inform about early leaving and late joining on sign up on the website or to the raid leader before the start of the raid, so replacements can be found. Being late, even if announced, can result in not getting a place in the raid.
4.3 Communication:
The Raid Leader is responsible for the success of the raid and thus has authority on the raid. (We usually maintain several channels on our raids, a raid channel, a chat channel and several special purpose channels, e.g. for pulling, healing, buffing, etc.)
Please stay clear of spamming the raid channel with useless clutter, so only information regarding the raid is displayed in raid chat. Use whispers, party, or guild chat, if you like to chat. Please keep questions out of raid chat too. Ask one of the more experienced players in a tell or use guild chat.
The Raid Leaders plan, prepare and lead the raids. Their words and decision counts on raids. Suggestions are welcome once, but no discussions that may delay or even endanger the raid. Take any disagreement to our forum and discuss them there, after the raid - we have a special forum just for that.
4.4 Loot Rules:
4.4.1 We have master looter on during the whole raid.
4.4.2 Green items (BoE) will be given out to whoever’s loot at the time it is.
4.4.3 Blue items will be, unless needed by someone in the raid group, retained by the Master Looter and stored in the guild bank for members to claim if needed.
4.4.4 After combat/a boss fight the Master Looter will post in Raid Chat which items have dropped.
4.4.5 If you need the item you may roll on it.
4.4.6 Alts may only roll on an item if no mains need it, or when they have been specifically asked to come on their Alt by the Raid Leader, for better performance of the raid group.
4.4.7 Trialists will always have last priority on items, they may roll on an item, if no-one else needs it, This includes Alts of Full Members.
4.4.8 In case of a Dual Tier drop (Like in VOA hunter shaman items) one Item will be designated to Main Tanks or Main Healers to gear them for future Raid Progress.
- If no-one present in a raid will not / cannot use it, then it will be disenchanted and go to the guild bank.
- You may NOT roll on items (BoE) for your alts - The needs of those in the raid or group come first.
4.5 Add-ons:
We have Mandatory Add-ons which can be downloaded from our Download-Section, that must be installed and familiarised before joining a raid. Without these add-ons boss fights and organising the raid will be difficult. Updated versions can be found here. Be sure to check for updates regularly (at a minimum, after every patch).
You are also expected to have Team speak up and running, also available from our Download-Section. You do not need a microphone. But you do need to be on to be able hear the course of action prepared by the Raid-Leader. Please do not speak or play music on Team speak, unless what you have to say is of relevance to the raid. Those that don't comply may get muted, kicked or in worst case banned from the server by an admin and eventually kicked out the guild. You can find more info about Team speak and how to set it up here.
4.6 Be prepared:
4.6.1 Be on time. If you have signed up for the raid, you are expected to be available 30 min before raid start for invites. All raids start at 20:30 and will end around 00:00. And to be outside the entrance of the raid 15 minutes before raid start. Unless you have informed the Raid Leader or other Officer and up attending the raid, that you will be late.
4.6.2 Be available for the instance. Do not be locked out/saved to the instance with another group.
4.6.3 Repair. If you are not fully repaired at raid start, this may hold up the raid later on, as the
group may have to wait for you to repair.
4.6.4 Reagents. Have all the reagents your class requires for buffs and spells
4.6.5 Have sufficient Potions/Elixirs/Flasks/Weapon oils/Sharpening stones/Arrows/Bullets/Shards to last through the raid.
4.6.6 Be Connected to the Team speak Server 15 minutes before the Raid starts.
4.6.7 Have the Mandatory Mod's Installed and the knowledge how to use them.
4.6.8 Have the Mandatory Programs Installed and the knowledge how to use them.
4.7 Pugging:
Pugging raid that the guild is raiding is not allowed on your mains charaters and can lead to demotion and repeat offenders can be removed from the guild.
4.8 Knowledge:
The key to successful raiding is knowledge. Know your role; know how it interacts with all other roles. Visit your role specific forums regularly. Know the zones we visit and know the zones we travel through. Have maps available at all times. Read any raiding guide available, browse our forum and add your own knowledge to it. The better prepared we are, the more successful we are - and this applies for everyone, not only for the raid leaders.
5.0 G U I L D B A N K:
Joining our Guild does not mean that we will expect contributions of any kind. We Initiated a Guild-Bank and make voluntary requests for either items or money in-game, in order to sponsor specific Guild Activities & Items. In the end, it is entirely up to you to decide whether or not you will donate to those funds or give items to your peers.
The Guild Bank items that may benefit guild members may be offered at guild prices (50% Discount from AH). It is not meant for doing business for profit. People with profession skills at max are encouraged to offer their services to the guild.
We do hope, that you will find friends in our guild, and that you will start sharing naturally amongst your fellow guild members, as this helps promote the sort of relationships between players we are trying to achieve.
6.0 J O I N I N G - A N D - L E A V I N G:
In theory, anyone is allowed to join Scorpion Pirates after a very brief chat with an officer. We do have an age limit of 18 to join guild. If you are under the age of 18 and still wish to join the guild you need a sponsor from within the guild or have a relative in guild that can vouches for you. We expect you to read our rules thoroughly and abide by them when playing World of Warcraft. When applying to our Guild you will be asked to Register on our forums and use the Application Form to hand in your Request.
We also make use of a Ranking System, meaning that, when you join, you will be a Recruit in our guild. You will remain a Trailest for a period up to four weeks, depending on how active you are and how long time we need to get to know you, so we can find out if our play-styles are compatible, based on the feedback of other guild members and the Officers themselves.
Like Stated before, we wish you to be an Active member.
Log on at least once a week on the website and with your Main Char In-Game! Failure to do so will result in a demotion and ultimately removal from the Guild, unless an AWOL-post is made on the website. We do not accept Alt-Chars that do not have their Main in the Guild.
In some cases, we are not the guild for you, or you are not the player for us, and we part ways after the trial is over. Once you have finished your probationary period, you will be promoted to Member and have better access to any Guild privileges that that entails.
Over time, when members are sufficiently knowledgeable about both the game and Scorpion Pirates, you may be promoted upward and onward, this gives you access to extra abilities.
6.1 Warnings:
Although we do not like to do this, sometimes player styles just aren't compatible. When the Guild leader or his Officers feel that you are breaking the rules too frequently or too badly, we will step in and give you a warning. We are very keen on keeping our guild a friendly environment where everybody can enjoy each other's company.
There is a difference between breaking the rules by accident and trampling all over them, of course. A smallish request to stop doing something by an Officer in Guild-chat is not a warning; it's just a request from one player to another to stop doing something because they do not enjoy it.
Officers will explicitly state when you are given a warning and this will always be private. It is important that when an Officer requests your attention you reply as fast as you can; not replying at the point where an Officer feels you should be given a warning does not exactly help your situation.
If, after having been given a message, you do not make an effort to adjust your behaviour you will be removed from the guild. This seldom happens, and we do not enjoy it, but it is necessary to keep our Guild enjoyable for all other members. You can of course leave whenever you wish, although we hope you'll want to stay with us for a long time!
6.2 Joining and Requirements:
- We ask you to post an Application after reading this document and to answer some questions and to tell us your history.
- The requirements we set may change once in a while and are described in the same document.
- Before you join, you will have to /gleave all your characters from other guilds on this server.
6.3 Leaving:
- You leave on your own because you are not satisfied.
- Or we will ask you to leave because we are not satisfied.
6.4 Re-Applying:
- When you leave on your own, there may be a short time (a week at most) to come back without losing your Rank or Status.
- The officers will decide on a case-by-case basis whether to reinstall you fully into your previous status.
- After that week you will have to re-apply through the standard procedure for new applicants.
- You will be on trial again.
6.5 Changing main:
You may change your main if you have the rank member or higher. You my change your main once every 6 months. To do this you must first contact a officer or guild leader who will discuss it before any change will be made
7.0 V I O L A T I O N S:
When somebody does something that hurts (Whether this is the case will be decided by the officers) then a guild warning may be issued. There will be a time limit set until it expires. More complaints within the time limit may lead to a forced guild removal.
7.1 Bann able Offences:
- These are strong violations of the way Scorpion Pirates plays and may lead to a guild warning or even instant forced /guild remove. Anything that may bring the guild into disrepute qualifies as Bann able offence.
- Usually these incidents will be investigated first, before action is taken.
7.2 Things that are NOT acceptable:
- Ninja-Looting.
- KS (Kill Stealing).
- Bad style communication; This applies to direct communication, to game channels and to forums, may they be guild related or public.
- Harassment; Any kind of harassment and stalking is disallowed, may it be sexually, racially, etc.
7.3 Flaming and trolling:
- Flaming is unwelcome on our forums or in guild chat.
- We don't mind voicing clear opinions, in fact we encourage it - but you must know the line between stating an opinion and insulting a person or a group.
- Before you post a flame, sleep over it, if necessary 3 nights in a row. Keep in mind that 90% of the time the flamer hurts himself more than the target of his flame.
- Keep in mind that you wear a our guild tag and thus have responsibility towards the guild.
7.4 Guild internal /petitioning:
- Members must not /petition each other. Conflicts will be solved internally.
This list may be enlarged when offences appear that we did not think of yet, the fact that an offence is not in this list does not mean it is not punishable.
